Stress Management

Any stressful situation can be eased by either:
   - reducing the pressure or
   - learning to cope better.

We will work together to do both. To learn new tools & relaxation techniques that can be used to cope more effectively with stressful situations and to be better prepared to face the challenges of our demanding life.

 Grief/Loss

Loss is an inevitable part of life, and Grief is the normal response to any important loss in life. Dealing with a significant loss can be one of the most difficult times in a person's life. Don’t hesitate to come and see a compassionate professional when you feel what you are experiencing is too much pain to cope alone.

Childhood Sexual, Physical and Emotional abuse issues

Traumatic experiences in childhood are linked to many of the most common emotional, behavioral, relationship , and even physical  problems. Sever early trauma has long-term effects, but the good news is; there is help.  Through the use of varied therapy techniques, individuals can find the safe release of feelings, achieve more relief from symptoms and disturbing post-traumatic behaviors and develop a sense of mastery and control of their life.

Depression& Mood disorders

Clinical depression is a very common psychological problem. Depression is treatable; you don’t have to suffer. Talk therapy can be a very efficient method for treatment of depression.

Anxiety, OCD/Panic attack

Research has shown that behavioral therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy can be effective for treating several of the anxiety disorders;General anxiety disorder/OCD/ Panic attacks/Social anxiety disorder/PTSD/separation anxiety disorder/ Specific Phobias

PTSD

I am also trained in EMDR, and use this methodology to help client’s process through traumatic life experiences

ADHD/Oppositional and Defiant Disorder

I use effective behavior and strategic therapy with children and families to help avoid, or lessen, the need for medication in cases of ADHD and ADD

If you have a defiant teen, or you can’t get along with your pre-adolescent or adolescent child, I would like to help you to improve the communication between you and your child. I also have had extensive collaboration with community agencies such as DDD, school system, and Juvenile probation.

Family & Couple relationship problems

I have been honored to help hundreds of families to learn new methods for working together to achieve harmony and more mutual respectful in their family relationships.

I do family system work. One of the method I use, is structural/strategic family therapy. Whatever the primary sources of the lack of family structure may be, the absence of structure itself invariably leads the family dysfunction, and delinquency.

Positive parenting can be learned through counseling and coaching. Aside from extensive trainings, I have two teenagers whom I have a very close and positive relationship with. I would be happy to help you build a more positive relationship with your teens.

I also enjoy marriage/couple counseling. At one time or another, every couple experiences difficulties with their relationship. I use different treatment modality, depends on situation and couple’s preferences.  There are times that the aim of therapy is to resolve the presenting problem as efficiently and as quickly as possible. Other times we are interested to do more in-depth works, such as working toward underlying emotions, promoting personal growth, and working with past unresolved couple issues.

Regardless of family/couple’s preferences on the length of treatment (brief therapy/versus more in depth work), my couple and family work always includes teaching better communications and problem solving skills so that couples would have the necessary tools to deal with conflicts more efficiently in the future. How two people choose to communicate with one another plays a great role in how these two people relate to one another.

Divorce and Children & Blended Family issues

Divorce is a time of crisis and as we all know it can feel devastating, for couples as well as for children. One of parents greatest concerns is how divorce will affect their children. Raising children is already tough; divorce adds a whole new set of challenges to your job as a parent. What most parents need to help their children is information, reassurance, love and support. You also need to take care of yourself during this difficult time. Divorce counseling can help you to minimize the traumatic emotional affect of divorce on you and your children.

Family counseling may help you create a more satisfying and nurturing blended family

Substance Abuse

Addictions are maladaptive behaviors, whether is sex, drugs, gambling, money, food, etc.I believe that therapy must address the addict’s conditions at all levels; emotions, cognitive, , and behavioral.

I help my clients with Alcohol dependency, prevention of substance abuse, Smoke cessation, habit change,  and help with addiction to pornography

Domestic Violence

I work with both the victims of domestic violence, as well as the perpetrators. Victim’s safety is the first priority, after victims are safe and, I provide a safe and nurturing environment for the victims in which they feel validated and understood. I also focus my attention on strengthening their sense of self, and raising their self-esteem

I also encourage perpetrators of domestic violence to take accountability for their actions. I teach offenders various anger management techniques.

Chronic Pain

I use EMDR to manage resistance and chronic pains.

Work Related Problems (I accept workers comps)

There are Post-traumatic effects of work related accidents that may or might not appear immediately. I accept workers comps insurances to help you cope with life changes after a work injury.
